Personas are significant in defining the approach to be taken in the development of the interactive media. Lecture 5 is about user and artefact personas for interactive products.
User Persona
User personas are fictional users that serves as a representation of the target audience of the interactive product. Personas are commonly created based on interviews on people which documents their behavioural patterns, personalities, skills, and goals. Developing user personas are significant in the design process to inform and define the design and user experience of the final product.

Artefact Persona
Artefact personas is used to apply personality to the interactive product. Personas are developed for artefacts to determine the visual approach to the product as well as define what it will communicate. Artefact personas give context and evaluates the decisions for visual design which can be subjective. Developing the product persona can involve answering the following :
- Giving genders to the product and describing its personality
- The first impressions of the product when its viewed for the first time
- How the product be described to an acquaintance
- Selling points of the product that makes it unique from its competitors

Final Thoughts
Lecture 5 was interesting in learning the significance of personas in designing an interactive media.
Through the lecture I learnt creating user personas help define the visual and content approach of the interactive product. Artefact personas are created to give context and justify the decisions made for the visual design.
Lecture 5 was an insightful learning experience in understanding how personas are significant in shaping overall design and the interactivity.
